Coconut Creek

Coconut Creek is a beautiful community in northern Broward County, Florida. Named among the best small towns to live in the country, the city was designed with environmental planning based on sustainable development and green living. Neighborhoods feature professional landscaping throughout, with plentiful trees, waterways and scenic parks. Real estate in the area consists of million dollar mansions, as well as a range of single-family homes, townhouses and condominiums.

One of few cities in the country to be designated as a ‘Community Wildlife Habitat,’ Coconut Creek is also referred to as the ‘Butterfly Capital of the World.’ That is because the largest butterfly aviary in the world, Butterfly World, is located here. The community also features butterfly gardens throughout many neighborhoods.

Offering great opportunities for children, Coconut Creek has been recognized for its’ policies that promote play opportunities for kids. The city’s parks and recreation department offers various classes, sports leagues, fitness and recreational activities at the area’s 18 parks. There are more than 167 acres of athletic fields, and nearly 14 acres of greenways. The parks department also holds special events throughout the year.

Coconut Creek has an area of 12 square miles (31 km2), of which 0.15 square miles (0.4 km2) is water. The city had 52,909 residents as of the 2010 census, as well as around 1,400 businesses. Nearby cities include Parkland, Coral Springs, Margate, Deerfield Beach and Pompano Beach.
